I went to work for half day and got everything under control to be out of work for 4-6 weeks. Kevin picked me up around 1pm and we were on our way to Boston. We got to Crescent Suites (highly recommend to anyone needing a cheaper place to stay) in Waltham. The rooms are all suite style with full kitchens and a complimentary breakfast in the morning. The owner is amazing and let us park in his garage for the evening since there was a huge threat of a blizzard that night!
We took a trial drive into Boston to the Children’s Hospital to see how long it was going to take and because I wanted to visit another girl recuperating after her second PAO just a few days before. She was doing great, but her epidural had not worked so when she came out of surgery she felt her legs and was in excruciating pain. So I wasn’t really looking too forward to the surgery now! Luckily it’s a very rare thing that can happen!
We went to dinner where I ate light as they don’t want you to eat anything heavy before surgery. We ate and went back to the hotel to get ready for the morning. Surgery was 830am and I was to be there at 7:00am. It took about 25 minutes to drive to the hospital and with the snow they predicted we wanted to give ourselves over an hour. Set our alarms for 5am and went to bed.
So to top off my GREAT luck, I also got my period the night before surgery and I didn’t take anything for the cramps as I wasn’t sure if I was allowed to. I also was not looking forward to laying in a mess for the next few days since I’d have a catheter in.
